Semi-Truck Cluster Screen Display Malfunction | UpFix

Why Is My Semi-Truck Cluster Screen Blank or Dim?

When the screen fades or goes dark, you lose vital info—fault codes, fuel range, and digital warnings. In most cases, the LCD or backlight driver circuit has failed.

Heat and vibration cause ribbon cables or LED drivers to separate from the circuit board. The result is a screen that flickers, fades, or stays blank even while the truck runs normally.

Typical Symptoms

  • Black, dim, or flickering display

  • Backlight works but text unreadable

  • Lines or distortion across screen

  • Random resets when hitting bumps

Repair Process

UpFix repairs these clusters by replacing failed LCDs or ribbon cables and restoring power regulation to the display circuit. Each screen is tested for brightness and contrast before return.

If your display uses proprietary connectors (as in Freightliner or Kenworth models), we replace them with upgraded versions designed to resist vibration fatigue.

Repair vs. Replace

Replacing an entire cluster for a bad screen is overkill. UpFix repairs only the defective section, keeping your original unit and saving hundreds of dollars.

Supported Brands

Freightliner, Volvo, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack, International and others.
